... much more than a holiday home!

Mountain biking
Two top quality, (man's and woman’s) mountain bikes are available at Casa Mandorla for you to use, free of charge.

Fishing

Rivers:  difficult in the summer months as the rivers run low. There are a couple of small lakes that accept fee-paying, guest anglers where carp, trout and cavedani can be fished.

Sea:     fishing trips can be arranged from the port in Fano.

Walking
Casa Mandorla is surrounded by unspoilt countryside with lovely views, excellent for walking and nature lovers.

Swimming

A swimming pool and sports complex are in nearby Fossombrone.

Flying

Light aircraft flying and parachuting are available at Fano airport – about 20 mins by car. We can lend you a headset.

Pony trekking

Casa Mandorla actually lies on one of the routes used by the trekking companies so you may occasionally see a long line of horses passing the house. For further information search on Trekking del Metauro.

 Painting
Nearby Fossombrone and the banks of the Metauro river are particularly popular with watercolour artists.

Canoeing
Canoeing is popular on the Metauro river which narrows in places to only a few metres – and widens elsewhere to lake-size.

Quad biking
Quad biking rentals are available in Fossombrone, but beware - it's still not regulated in Italy and can be extremely dangerous for the inexperienced.

Paragliding and Parascending
These activities are within an hour's drive at Sigilla, on the slopes of Monte Cucco, where the world championships were held a few years ago.

Nightlife
Tris disco is quite famous (we’ve never been there and never intend to). It frequently holds up to 7,000 boppers, bussed in from major cities. Such large numbers mean the price is reasonable (about €10 including first drink, as opposed to €40-50 entrance fee in Rimini, Gabicce Mare etc). Although Tris is only a few miles away, it's out of line of sight and earshot, so the night silence is undisturbed and the starry skies remain serene.

Music & Opera
Pesaro
Pesaro, birthplace of Rossini, hosts the annual Rossini opera festival from 1-31 August 2010. Highlights of the 2010 season include Otello and Il Turco in Italia.

Macerata
The 46th open-air opera season in the magnificent Sferisterio arena - 28 July to 10 August 2010 - includes Verdi's Macbeth, Donizetti's Maria Stuarda, and Bellini's Norma.

Fano
Fano hosts an annual Jazz by the Sea festival, usually the last week in July. Ongoing throughout 2010 various yachting events and shows

Children's Activities
Children are welcome at virtually all restaurants. We can arrange rental of cot, playpen or high-chair. A removeable stair gate at the top of the staircase has been installed. Lots of toys, games, books, DVDs and CDs are available at the house to entertain children.

There is a large garden for children to play in but please note there is no clear demarcation between the garden and the countryside beyond.
