Early morning Casa Mandorla
Casa Mandorla is ·ideal for families or groups of friends who want to be on their own ·perfect for nature-lovers, artists, star-gazers and gastronauts ·conveniently placed for both the seaside and the mountains ·completely private, self-contained and independent
Location Casa Mandorla is in Le Marche (pronounced ‘markay’) east of the Appennini, the mountain chain which forms the ‘backbone’ of Italy. As the crow flies, we are approximately 16 miles from the Adriatic coast and a 30 minute drive. Fossombrone, our nearest ‘large’ town, (pop: 9,650) dates back to the 2nd century BC. Casa Mandorla is in a tranquil, rural setting, on a small mountainside plateau at an altitude of 1,150 ft (350m). There are beautiful, extensive views over the undeveloped Taruga valley to the twin peaks of Monte Catria and Monte Acuto, both over 5,000 ft, in the middle distance. The house is secluded and not overlooked, so ‘all over’ sunbathing is possible for sun-worshippers. The grounds contain oleander, cherry, olive and shady acacia trees and are surrounded by agricultural fields interspersed with natural woodland. Civilization is not too far away:the village of Isola di Fano (3 mins by car) has a supermarket, bakery, pharmacy, bank, post office and bar.
